Abstract

Waqf, as one of the instruments of the Islamic economy, continues to develop and innovate alongside technology and digital transformation. This study aims to examine the role of technology and digital transformation in online waqf in Indonesia. The research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The databases used to search for literature were Publish or Perish and Google Scholar. The research findings are presented by examining the quality of the documents in detail and in accordance with the scope of the study. Seven relevant articles were identified from 30 related articles. Based on the search results that followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) stages, technology and digital transformation were found to play an important role in online waqf. The documents searched for in this study covered a period of the past five years. Based on the systematic findings, it can be concluded that technology and digital transformation can significantly increase waqf participation. First, they enhance transparency and accountability. Second, they expand inclusivity and the reach of participation. Third, they improve the efficiency and speed of benefit distribution. Fourth, they increase the liquidity of waqf assets through tokenization mechanisms, enabling assets that were previously illiquid to become liquid. Fifth, the integration of national waqf data initiated by the Indonesian Waqf Board together with the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance further strengthens coordination among stakeholders while enhancing the accountability of waqf management nationally. If every waqf contribution we set aside can become a solution to poverty, education, and the development of the Muslim community, that is the role and strength of waqf— a social instrument that is not only an act of worship but also a pathway to justice and prosperity.
