About the Journal
Barocanomics: Journal of Ethical and Islamic Economics, published by Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Miftahul Ula, is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the study and advancement of Islamic and ethical economics. The term Barocanomics derives from the Arabic word “Barakah”, meaning blessing and prosperity, combined with economics to represent the integration of ethical and spiritual values into the discipline of economics. This journal provides a scholarly platform for researchers, academicians, and practitioners to explore ideas, empirical studies, and innovations that promote justice, inclusivity, and sustainability in accordance with Islamic principles.
The journal publishes conceptual and empirical research focusing on topics such as Islamic finance and banking, ethical business practices, zakat and waqf management, Islamic social finance, halal industry, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development based on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. It also encourages comparative and interdisciplinary approaches that connect Islamic economics with public policy, governance, and contemporary global challenges.
Barocanomics is published twice a year (in June and December) and adopts a double-blind peer review system to ensure academic quality and integrity. The journal adheres to the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies an open-access policy under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing unrestricted access and distribution. Through its publication, Barocanomics seeks to contribute to the creation of a just, ethical, and value-driven economic order that reflects the balance between material prosperity and moral well-being.
