Abstract
The current state of education, particularly regarding the role of teachers as educators, has not met expectations in terms of teacher competence in achieving national education goals aimed at fostering students with both academic achievement and character. This study aims to examine the impact of teacher competency on students' interest in learning, assess the extent of this influence, and explore strategies to enhance students' learning interest through improved teacher competency. A descriptive analysis method was employed, utilizing random sampling and data collection techniques, including observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using the product-moment correlation method. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between teacher competency and students' interest in learning, with a correlation coefficient of 0.785 (78.5%) and a coefficient of determination of 0.617 (61.7%). These results indicate that teacher competency plays a substantial role in shaping students' interest in learning.
