Screening for Plagiarism

VRISPRAAK: International Journal of Law is committed to ensuring the integrity and originality of all published works. To maintain these standards, every submitted manuscript undergoes a rigorous plagiarism screening process.

Plagiarism Policy

  1. Definition of Plagiarism
    • Plagiarism involves using someone else’s work, ideas, or words without proper acknowledgment and presenting them as one’s own. This includes direct copying, paraphrasing without citation, and self-plagiarism (reusing substantial portions of one’s previously published work without proper citation).
  2. Screening Process
    • All submitted manuscripts are screened using reputable plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools).
    • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20%, excluding references and quotations, are subject to editorial review and possible rejection.
  3. Consequences of Plagiarism
    • Manuscripts with evidence of plagiarism will be rejected immediately.
    • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors will be notified. A statement of retraction will be published in the journal.
  4. Author Responsibility
    • Authors are expected to ensure the originality of their work before submission. Proper citation and adherence to academic standards are mandatory.
    • Authors must confirm that their manuscript has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
  5. Editorial Actions
    • The editorial team reserves the right to take appropriate action against authors found guilty of plagiarism, including notifying the authors’ institutions or funding agencies.

Ethical Compliance

VRISPRAAK adheres to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Cases of suspected plagiarism will be handled following these guidelines to ensure fairness and transparency.
